OS 10.9.5 to OS 10.10

I would like to upgrade from OS 10.9.5 to OS 10.10. I am afraid that if I do my Adobe programs won't work. (CS 5.5)

Anyone have any experience with this OS and Adobe programs?

If you downloaded El Capitan when it was the current release, then it will be in your App Store -> Purchase tab.  If you never downloaded El Capitan, then it is ONLY available to user running Snow Leopard, or users that cannot upgrade to Sierra.

 

Otherwise you will need to upgrade to Sierra if it is still available, or High Sierra.  Assuming your Mac is supported by those versions of macOS

Be aware that, unless you previously downloaded Yosemite (10.10), you cannot download it. You would have to download the latest release that's compatible with your Mac, which would either be El Capitan (10.11) or High Sierra (10.13) depending on what year your Mac is from.

Sorry, but if you have never before downloaded 10.10, then you cannot do so anymore. Depending upon your model today you have two possible choices - El Capitan or High Sierra. If you wish to maintain compatibility with your Adobe software then don't upgrade or buy new versions so you can upgrade OS X.

 

How to get macOS Sierra - Apple Support

It won't let me upgrade to El Capitan without first getting Yosemite. I don't want to load High Sierra because of possible compatibility issues with my adobe software.

You do not need Yosemite in order to upgrade to El Capitan. Just download the El Capitan full installer (5 or so GBs.)
