Exchange Account "Unable to verify account info...

New iPad 2 (i OS 5.0)

when trying to sync device to an Exchange 2007 account I keep getting an "Unable to verify account information" error.

All account information is correct, trust me on this...

Tried switching the SSL and S/MIME option OFF to no avail.

I can log into OWA (outlook web access) using Safari on the device using the same credentials.

This used to work on the old iPhones and iPads but with i OS 5 it will not.

Many thanks in advance and your time!

Mine worked fine when I upgraded to iOS 5 on my iPad 2.  Try deleting the Exchange account and adding it back again.

I appreciate your quick response but I've removed and tried to add it back about 10 times now.

Let me try to understand what you had:

You were on an older version of i OS and had Exchange syncing

you then upgraded the device to version 5 and the syncing continues to occur without any problems?

My situation:

Brand new device running verion 5.  When trying to setup Exchange I get the error I mentioned.

The difference:

I didnt have Exchange syncing on a previous version and then attempted an upgrade

I have also gone into the Exchange server (yes I have access) and under Organization Configuration/Client Access there is "Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies" and I have the following:

1)  Allow non-provisional devices is checked

2)  Password is not required

Under Server Configuration/Client Access/Exchange ActiveSync I have the following:

1)  Basic Authentication

2)  Ignore Client Certificates (this was changed to Accept and still didn't work)

JP,

Whenever I got the "Unable to Verify Account Info" error, it was due to a failure or snafu on ActiveSync.  I *was* going to tell you to have your IT folks check your settings in the MS Exchange server, but since you already have access and have tried several fixes, I'm not sure I can help any further.  All I can tell you is that my iPad2 with iOS5 is working fine with MS Exchange.  It syncs calendars, contacts, email, and now Reminders (aka Tasks in Outlook).

For troubleshooting purposes can you please verify my assumption above?

I'm wondering if you had an Exchange sync working on a previous iOS version and then upgraded to iOS5.

My situation is a new Exchange sync configure on iOS5, no iOS upgrade.

Thanks again!

Yes, you are correct.  I was using my iPad 2 with iOS 4.3.5 and MS Exchange was working.  After upgrading to iOS 5, MS Exchange works fine.

I had same issue this morning, When I tried to add exchange account on Ipad it came up with an error: unable to verify account information.

I could access account using OWA but what you have to make sure is that you should be able to access OMA

eg: https://xyz.com/oma if OMA is not working , you will not be able to access or setup phone

OMA : outlook mobile access.

So you have to go back in Exchange server and make sure OMA is enable.

After OMA was enable for me I could access exchange account on Ipad or Iphone.

I hope this helps

I just got The New iPad (ios5), setup an exchange account successfully, able to get mail, sync contacts, calendar, etc.  It worked fine for 3 days and then it just stopped working. Now it just fails to connect to the server. I deleted the account and tried adding it, but now I get the 'unable to verify account' error.

Any help?

Thanks.

I don't know if this is your issue, but all of Apple.com "Verification" email to me goes into my Spam folder.  Once I found that out I was able to acknowledge that email and get "Verified".

I am not sure if that is my case, you must be talking about general mails coming from Apple.com.  The problem I am having is about setting up an exchange email account and the failure to verify that account by the iPad mail client.

Thanks for your response.

Hi Rand,

In Exchange 2007 there is no OMA as this was dropped.

Perhaps you're speaking of ActiveSync which is enabled as we do sync many different devices with our exchange server (Palm Pre's, iPhones, Driods, etc.)

My problem still persists but thanks for your reply

Before you try to set up the account make sure your Wireless is turned OFF.  This was the problem for several of my users.

Message was edited by: Liguru Sorry, I thought I was in the iPhone board!  Obvsiously you can not turn off your wireless on the iPad, unless you also have the phone service as well.  :)

Correct, this is iPad and I need wireless in order for the account information to be verified by server

no 4G on this ipad

I had the same issue....

I entered to my exchange account via web, selected mobile devices under options, then I removed my iPad from that list, after this, I tried to configure my exchange account... and it worked!!. I didnt go further but it seems to be something related to the device configuration in exchange....

hope this helps.
