.SIT file won't open on Sierra.

I have a printer driver for an old printer I am trying to open. It's in the form of a .SIT file. The operating system wouldn't open it so I downloaded a SIT Expander to see if that will work. Now I get a message that says, "You can't open the application because it may be damaged or incomplete". Any ideas on how to get this file opened. It's straight from the Kyocera website.

Any Stuffit archive is likely to be written for the PowerPC CPU that won't work on an Intel Mac, so forget about trying to open, expand, or install it.

Load the following web page:

https://usa.kyoceradocumentsolutions.com/en/download-center.html?prod-category=P rinters

Scroll about a third of the way down that page and locate the two lines of text "Kyocera Mac Driver 3.3". Find the download links on the right. One of them is a driver and the other one is a setup guide in PDF format.

The driver is a .zip file that expands to a mountable .dmg. Open that .dmg file to reveal a package installer, and open it. You may get a warning that the package is signed with an expired certificate (it expired only recently though). Read and understand its implications, then click "Continue".

That driver does not specifically indicate it is for the FS printer series, but try it. I can find no Mac-compatible drivers specifically for the FS series from the Kyocera website.

What did Kyocera say when you contacted them?

Any driver in a compressed .Sit file container is far too old for compatibility with macOS Sierra, and even if you could install it, it may cause macOS Sierra instability or crashes.

I believe that Stuffit Expander is still available at the Mac App Store. That venerable application was/is the standard for er... expanding .sit archives... there is also an app called The Unarchiver that used to also be in the App Store.

What is that printer's exact model designation please?

Ecosys FS-1030D

Ok...I'm may just have to call the company and see if they have a different file they can send me that isn't online

The only driver on Kyocera's website for Macs is for OS X 10.4. It is highly unlikely they would have updated the driver to work with Sierra seeing they never updated it for any other version of OS X.

Edit: They also have one for OS 9

I forgot to mention the .sit file is for OS 9, the .hqx file is for 10.4.

That worked! Thank you!
