Lost an email moving to Notes

Wanting to save and later move an email to elsewhere, I used Move > On My Mac > Notes. Now I cannot find the email in mail or in notes. Where might it be?

Are you saying you used the Messages menu, Move to, then the Notes folder in the On My Mac section?

If so, then it is in a Mailbox named "Notes" in the On My Mac section of the Mailbox list.

If not, where did you find the Move command?

Try rebuilding the mailbox.

Rebuild mailbox

If that doesn't work, try re-indexing the mailboxes. This can take awhile if you have a lot of mail.

Reindex messages        For El Capitan, try looking in V3.  Sierra use V4

Reindex messages (2)        See post by Linc Davis

Open mail application , take cursor on top menu bar > mailbox > new mailbox , choose the name as “ Notes “ a new mail box will be created under on My Mac section in mail sidebar .

And you select a single mail or more and again take cursor on top menu bar > Message > move to notes it will be transferred into “ Notes “ mailbox .

You can view the clone copy of it in Archive folder and drag and drop to the desired location .
