OS Sierra: Cannot play audio via bluetooth spea...
Cannot play audio via bluetooth speakers during Airplay to my television.
Was able to do so prior to OS Sierra update. Now if I switch to my bluetooth receiver in the System Pref -> Sound -> Output menu it disconnects airplay entirely. This occurs both with mirroring and use as a separate display.
Is there something I am missing about the behavior of this feature? Or is this a bug in the new OS?
Mac OS Sierra ver 10.12
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011)
I have similar issue, with siera update I can no longer output audio to my bluetooth headphones, they are connected but dont appear in the audio output list. :///
Same issue. Found any solution?
nope not yet, there is one update waiting so maybe they fixed it. I am going to install it 2night, didnt have time for it yet. I ll let you know.
It happens the same to me, bluetooth device appears in the audio INPUT list, but not in the audio OUTPUT list, so I can not play sounds through the devices... Bug?
Yeah I actually realized just yesterday, that Input works from bluetooth headphones just fine it is just that I cannot output the sound... I spent couple hours trying to find some relevant info... I didnt.... i will try to reset PRAM, see if that helps. its making me quite mad.
GUYSSS !!!! My headphones finally work again, I feel free again ..... I simply deleted the device and paired it again, for some reason that didnt work before. I did delete the NVRAM and PRAM before, not sure if it effects anything. Try re-pairing the device again. Hope it is gonna work for you guys.
Sorry for the followers of this topic. I proceeded as 'matejdo' did, "I deleted the device and paired it again, for some reason that didnt work before. I did delete the NVRAM and PRAM before", but the issue continues the same, bluetooth device appears in the audio INPUT list, but not in the audio OUTPUT list.
So problem is not solved yet.
Yeah I did it before as well and it didnt work. but now it did. did you deleted the PRAM/NVRAM correctly ?https://osxdaily.com/2010/11/15/reset-pram-mac/
also are u having latest updates ? Did you try this after installing latest updates ?
Specifically this thread is referring to using Airplay with Apple TV and not being able to set sound output to speakers without it disconnecting Airplay with the Apple TV. Your issue may be unrelated if this is behavior specific to Apple TV use. None of the updates have addressed this so far. Neither does resetting PRAM.
Finally problem solved, following the indications of another post!!!
Mac Os Sierra and bluetooth incompatible
"Preferences can become corrupted sometimes after an OS upgrade.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Bluetooth.plist file to the Trash.
Then restart your Mac. Your Mac will generate a new .plist file for you."
Earspeakers working again !!!
Hi there. Had the same problem. All I did to fix this was to unpair and repair my bluetooth speakers.
They're working perfectly now!!!
Has anyone found a solution for this?
Currently, I am being forced to have my sound play through my television when I use Airplay or mirroring via Apple TV.
I would like to use the external display but still play sound through the speakers I normally use. Seems reasonable to me, I would expect more people to have this issue.
This worked! Thank you!
I had the same problem with Sierra 10.12.5 a bluetooth speaker listed as output and not input.
This worked! Thank you for posting.
