How to transfer iPad purchased apps to MBA iTun...

While updating iPad to OS 11, received message that purchased apps must first be transferred to iTunes library. Looked around for how to do it and found no articles. Anyone know how to do this?

That is not a message that should ever appear (“must”?). Please provide the exact text of the alert, or a screenshot and the version of iTunes you’re using.
