How do I stop uninvited, unwelcome, unwarranted...

I am running OS 10.12.6 on my Mac arsenal.  When working in virtually any program on my iMac 11,1 there is often an unexpected zoom in to about 400% on the screen.  Sometimes a gentle tap on the Magic Mouse returns the screen to a normal setting, but more often than not I have to save what I'm working on, close the program and reopen the work in progress.  I don't have the same issue on either of my MacBooks.  Any ideas?

Open System Preferences, select Mouse, select Point&Click, uncheck Smart zoom. You might also want to explore other options available on your Magic Mouse, such as gestures.
