Left clicking in mail

For a while now I am unable to left click anywhere in the mail app.  I can right click.  Once the app is open I cannot close it, resize it or do anything that requires a left click.  Is this a Sierra upgrade issue?

No, it's not an upgrade issue. The issue is in your computer's now upgraded old system. For now try:

1. Restart your computer.
2. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
3. Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
