How Do I Sync Messages to new iPad?

I just got a new iPad Pro and would like to add all conversations from my old iPad.  Is there a way to do this?  Presently, my Messages on my new iPad only show messages from the activation date forward.

You would have to backup the old iPad and restore that backup to the new one. But that will also remove what you have on it now.

Texts are not saved, cached or archived anywhere like emails.

I tried backing up from the iPad Air 2 to the iPad Pro, but I got a message saying the backup was either corrupt or incompatible.  I backed up the Air 2 again and got the same message, so I assume it's a compatibility problem.  The Air 2 is running 10.3.3, but the new Pro is only 10.3.2.  Could that be the problem?  If so, can I update to 10.3.3 without going to 11? (A few apps I have are not yet compatible with 11.)

No, you'd have to update to iOS 11.

You can archive your messages from the old iPad using an application such as PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac or PC). You can save them as pdfs or text files. I know it's not quite the same but, at least you could refer to them.

Yeah, I have them archived on PhoneView, plus I also have them on my phone.  I was kind of hoping to move them over to the new iPad, but that doesn't look like it will be possible or, if it is, easy.  Thanks.

Sorry the news wasn't better. But, glad to hear you've at least got them accessible.

Best of luck.
