iOS11 on ipad not working in small text boxes

since my update I have a hard time filling in small single line text boxes on websites I use for medical documentation. Before the update this all worked fine.  Now it is unbearably slow and can take 30 sec to 1 min to enter one sentence.  When in a big text box it is fine but single line text boxes it is almost unusable.  If I switch to Firefox or google it all works fine so it is not an ipad problem, it is only in safari.  I prefer safari as it works the best usually and is safer in my opinion but I cannot get my work done using safari right now!
