MacBook 2017

Dear friends.
I'd like to find out if this is normal for my newly-purchased MacBook 12" 2017.
I just got my i5, 512GB MacBook from an authorised dealer this evening.

I tried powering it up after charging it, & I realise each time, the machine takes some 30 seconds to power up from the time I press the power button.
Whilst the machine is powering up, the screen turns a dark grey & this goes on for 30 seconds before I get to see that familiar Apple startup logo.

Is this normal for this model please?
I'm asking because I also own a 2016 MacBook Pro with a Touch Bar & it doesn't take quite as long to start up..

Appreciate any enlightenment I can can on this issue.
Thanks in advance all:)

If this happened on the first bootup it's normal since the computer needs to process and stuff. But if this keeps happening, that's not normal. You should bring the computer back to the store to get a replacement or to get checked out.

I have the 2016 12" Retina MacBook with M5, 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM.  It takes approximately 20 seconds from hitting the power button until the login screen appears.  However, I get a black screen with the Apple logo almost immediately.  I believe themacbookguy is correct in stating that the MacBook is performing initial set up processes.  Also, if you have any peripherals plugged in or a poor network connection, these may lengthen boot times.

Perhaps someone with a 2017 MacBook with similar specs can offer some feedback to compare with your experience.

In the meantime, give it another day or so and see if it boots similarly to your MacBook Pro.  It may sort itself out.
