I disabled my iPad because I forgot my passcode. How do I unlock my iPad without having to erase it?

The following has instructions for all 3 methods of dealing with a device disabled due to a forgotten passcode. Unfortunately they all involve erasing the device (although you can then restore if you have a backup): If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support

You can't unlock it without erasing it. Erasing it removes the passcode which allows you to unlock it.
