Buying tracks versus albums

if i purchase a track individually, can i later change my mind a buy the whole album? Will I end up with two copies of that track? What if I buy 8/10 tracks from an album? If the total cost of buying those 8 tracks is equivalent to buying the album, will iTunes just offer the tracks 9&10 for free?
