connect usb c macbook to iMac

hello! so my question is I bought a MacBook pro that has only usb type c plugs and I wanna transfer my old music from my iMac to it but is it possible if I buy a usb a to usb c cable connect my usb c MacBook Pro to my iMac and transfer music between them ?
