Output sound to receiver/amplifier to bose 5.1 ...

Hi,

I want to output sound to my Bose 5.1 home cinema set through my Onkyo TR-SR309 Amplifier via HDMI but I hear no sound? How is this possible, and how can I fix this?

The way I plugged:

USB C to HDMI converter.

HDMI cable in the converter to the Onkyo TR-SR309 Amplifier

Selected TR-SR309 as output on my Macbook Pro and selected the correct channel on the amplifier.

The case is my Macbook Pro finds the source (my amplifier), then I select it as output but I think there's no sound coming through the cable. I used 3 different cables.

If I use just TULP to AUX the sound works. But I want 5.1 sound that's why I use HDMI.
