How to remove malware/virus from MacBook Pro mi...

How do I remove malware (SafeFinder browser and MacCleaner ad) from my MacBook Pro mid-2012 running on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5? Will upgrading to El Capitan or Sierra remove these viruses?

I'm not guaranteeing that it will fix the problem you are having but it won't do any damage. As I stated in my previous post it has a very good reputation in this forum. The original developer of the Mac version is very well known and trusted here.
