No password or Touch ID option to log into MBP?!

I've had this issue happen to me multiple times since I bought my MBP 15" w/ Touchbar (on macOS Sierra Version 10.12.3) in December. Occasionally, when I wake my computer up from sleep, I'm at the main log-in screen and cannot get into my Mac because there is no password box (even when clicking my avatar) and there is no option on the Touchbar for use of my fingerprint. My only options are to cancel or log-in as a guest. ***?! This is so frustrating.

NOTE: I've noticed that this happens more frequently when plugged into the LG 5k Ultrafine Monitor.

My only resolution is to hard reboot my computer. I've found no way around this absurd issue.

Anybody else have this problem or know of a workaround? I've tried searching about this to no avail and have taken video of the problem. It's super weird. Don't know what to do to resolve it. Super annoying.

I have this exact same problem, don't have a solution but a workaround short of a hard reboot is to click the "Switch accounts" option at the bottom (you may have to enable that if it is not showing up, not sure if that is always there or an option) then you get a new screen where you can choose an user account to log into, including your own, so then you pick yours and log in and you're in
