Mail problem

Hello. On the Mac I have set mail the same as on the iPhone. On Mac I can receive messages but I can not send them, everything is definitely well configured, with the iPhone I can send message ... from time to time by the hour I can send message on Mac, then again does not work a few hours. What could be causing this?
