apple school manager sign up

Hello
I am working with IT in a small school (200 students, 14 teachers).
We have a set of 21 iPads and recently bought 20 more. We have Lightspeed MDM for deploying app.
The first set was bought 4-5 years ago, and was set in Supervision mode using Apple Configurator (v1) with a cable from a MAC Mini server running OS X 10.9.

I don't know what happened, but from the first 21, only one is still supervised. We dont have DEP or Apple School Manager.

Problem is that on the unsupervised iPads, the students are having fun changing apple ID, changing background, installing apps, etc.

So now I want to enroll all, old and new ones, to Apple School Manager. But if I add our schools details, I get to the point to adding "Verification Contact". I add a contact, but the "continue" button is grayed out.

What can I do to join the Apple School Manager programme?
Also is it the correct way to go? Meaning, once we have joined, can I then enroll our old and new iPads to to school manager.

Hello there,

I've seen a case where the button is greyed out before, but you can still click it. It may seem obvious but it took me ages to realise it, so have you tried clicking it anyway?

In terms of School Manager (ASM) itself, it's definitely the way to go. It removes the need for Configurator because once devices are enrolled in ASM, they are automatically directed to enrol in Lightspeed (just don't forget to add a deployment profile in Lightspeed once devices are enrolled in ASM) and this means they are supervised - no need to plug the iPads in to a Mac. It also means the MDM profile is not removable on the device. If an iPad was stolen and wiped, when the user joins wifi, it will automatically enrol in your Lightspeed MDM again and there's no way around it. I definitely recommend ASM and also, Lightspeed is currently my favourite MDM.
