Phantom password autofilling in Safari and Chrome
Hi there,
I have an odd password issue...
I am a heavy user of LastPass and have deleted all my saved passwords from Chrome and Safari. Also, I've deleted all 'internet password' items from my login keychain...however:
In Chrome ( Version 54.0.2840.71 (64-bit) ), when I go to Amazon, the browser autofills with an old password! Clicking on my LastPass popup and selecting my account, I can see it fills in, but the browser quickly replaces it with the old one again! So strange.
When I open Safari and do the same thing -- go to Amazon, the old password is there first, but selecting the entry in the LastPass popup puts the correct password in and does not revert.
Does anyone have any idea where this 'phantom' account info might be stored? I've hunted through my login and system keychains, but there is no reference to amazon.
Thanks for any insight.
John
Hey there belslavin!
If you are having issues with Autofill entering old information, try checking the Safari and Google settings. For Safari, please look over the information in this link. Safari for Mac: If AutoFill doesn’t work in Safari
For Google Chrome Autofill support, try this link. Fill out forms automatically using Chrome
Thanks for positing your issue in Apple Support Communities. Have a great weekend.

Hi Alex. Thanks for the reply, but it wasn't remotely helpful
Like I said, I don't want autofill of anything to occur by Safari nor Chrome. I've taken all the steps to remove data, disable autofill / save passwords in both Browsers -- and I've deleted all saved passwords from my keychain.
HAha that's funny. Yeah I have this same issue. I can't find my passwords. I'd like to save them if possible. Oye vey!
Hi belslavin,
Not sure if you found the answer you were looking for as this post is older, but I was having the same issue. It turns out the issue is with Lastpass, not Safari/Chrome. Somehow it gets its wires crossed and still remembers old passwords. I wrote down my current password for the site in question, deleted the LP record in my vault, then logged in using the correct credentials and re-saved the password. Seemed to work fine after that.
Hope that helps you or future users.
