Appliations keep randomly deactivating

Hey! So recently my mac has just been randomly deactivating apps around every, lets say, 15 - 20 seconds or so. What I mean by this is that that app kinda... greys out as if an app is above it, but the app is in full screen. That happens to all my apps and idk why its happening. It's really frustrating as when I'm typing it would randomly not let me, and i have to click the application again to continue typing. This also makes it so that its nearly impossible to game. Please help!

 

For example, an app would start like this

but every 20 seconds or so, it would grey out:

And I would have to click it to type or do anything in it. Any help would be appreciated
