MSWord Opening Problem

My MSWord 2017 documents don't open from Finder/Documents with double click or right click then open.  I have to right click then move to the second item on the drop down - open with then over to microsoft word (default) and click on that.

I accidentally clicked on something and I don't know what it was.  I was looking for something.

Locate any Word document in Finder, select it (highlight it), then use the Finder File menu Get Info (or command I), and look in the Open With section of the Info window. If it isn't set to Word, change it to Word and use the "Change All" button in that section of the Info window.

Check a document information and ensure documents default open with is Word. You may have changed the default app that opens documents from Word to something else.
