OS 10.7.5 - YIKES!

back up: Time Machine - no cloud except DropBox

I am a graphic designer and as you can see am quite delinquent in upgrading OS. Creative Suite 5.5 works great  (sometimes sluggish) as well Suitcase Fusion 3. Canon Pro9000II is still a champ!

Dilemma: 10.7.5 is no longer being supported so it's time. I am not very computer savvy (can you tell?) so I come to the experts for their feedback/options/support

What is better option?

1. Partition current hard drive? To newest OS?

2. Purchase a refurbished Macbook? Mirror to iMac for larger screen as needed for design work?

3. Other?

Note: will add new Adobe CS upgrade (to subscription), Cloud back up, MS Office upgrade.
