Automator application works in Automator but no...

I have a simple Automater application:

Run Applescript:

tell application "System Events" to tell process "Pages"

  set frontmost to true

  click (menu item 1 where its name starts with "Equ") of menu 1 of menu bar item "Insert" of menu bar 1

end tell

The idea here is that it will automatically bring up the "Insert -> Equation . . ." window in Pages. More will come later, which is why I'm running this through Automator and not just a plain Applescript.

In any case, it works perfectly well within Automator when I manually hit the "Run" option.  However, when saved and tun as a stand-alone operation, I receive the error, "The action “Run AppleScript” encountered an error."

Unfortunately, I'm completely stuck from there.  Not sure why it isn't working when I can do both versions back-to-back and get the different results.  Any help would be really appreciated!
