iOS 11 iPad brick

Cannot update to iOS 11. restore is not working through iTunes (latest version).

What happens when you try to update? Are you trying on the device itself, OTA, or are you connected to the computer and iTunes? If iTunes, what version number of iTunes do you have, and please do not say, "the latest", please report the exact version number.

My iPad Mini 4 updated yesterday just fine, and has been working flawlessly all day today.

iTunes 12.7.0.166. I am receiving an error code 56...

Check this support document. Get help with iOS update and restore errors - Apple Support

Error 56 checks as a possible hardware error. Follow the steps included in the support document, and if that does not help, contact Apple Support, or make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple store.
