Air 1’s should be compatible.

I would suggest that you just try again later and see if the option to update comes up. Sometimes the prompt is rolled out due to the sheer number of people getting the update and only so much server load to go around.

If it still doesn’t come up you can go to settings, general, about and google the model number to make sure you have the model you think you have. (It can get very confusing with iPad models with the seemingly inconsistent naming structure Apple uses)
