Urgent help( unix executable)

Hello guys,

yesterday i have encountered a problem that my external drive show one folder, which contains video files as EXEC (unix executable). right-click on it the file has no extension but in the general section, it says KInd: unix executable.

these videos are for a theatre production.

so please and i'm really desperate here. i need some help to recover the folder.

note that the folder was on my desktop but i removed about a month ago after i transferred it to the external hard drive, i went to Mac store they run a recovery program but they could not retrieve it.

please advise me on how to get my folder working again.

What file type were these files originally? Have you tried changing the file extension back to whatever that was?

the video files were .mov but they were inside the folder. (normal folder)

and the whole folder has turned into exec.

A folder doesn't have a file type. What happens when you move the files out of the folder?

i can't open the folder because as i explained, it is exec.

Can you open it by choosing the folder and holding the space bar?
