An iPad as well as a MacBook?

Hi everyone,

I am looking to get into primary teaching in college and wondering if I need an extra device.

Here is the decision I am trying to make:

My best friend has a iPad (and is currently doing the same course I want to) but keeps needing to borrow my MacBook Pro because of the ease of typing since that is what she is used to from our school computers (also MacBooks). I have a skill of touch-typing which I use regularly, so I see how just using my current MacBook Pro could be beneficial. However... The reason why I am considering an iPad is because of the ability to recognise handwriting and draw in around the written text (if I get one I will be getting apple pencil as well). Cause I regularly draw diagrams on paper but then have a hard time putting the picture on my computer.

Will I need an iPad as well? (If you have used an iPad in teaching, your help will be EXTRA appreciated!)
