Could Not Sync
Have you seen this: "iPhone could not be synced because the connection to the iPhone was lost"? But it is connected and I have visibility to what is on the phone through iTunes.
I'm using a fifth-gen iPod Touch, I got the same 'could not be synced because the connection was lost' error, and I required a different fix. I found it occurred only when adding photos to the sync items. Using a different iPhoto library didn't help, nor did logging into a different account. So it wasn't a problem with any data at the user-level. I surmised an iPhoto or iTunes sync-related component went bad. I re-installed both. It must have replaced whatever wasn't working. Everything syncs correctly now.
Same problem. Completely unable to sync my iPhone. No way of getting music onto it now
I also have this question. I'm using an iPhone 4S on Mac OSX version 10.8.2
I'm getting this when I try and sync my photos using the USB lead, via iTunes, so not sure how "the connection to iphone was lost". Very frustrating. Suspect it's something to do with iCloud.
What version of iTunes are you using? Did you just upgrade to iTunes 11?
I receive the same error using my iPhone 4s 64GB, iOS 6.0.1, and recently updated iTunes 11.0. I have had several problems, including having everything wiped except apps, since updating to iTunes 11. After reinstalling everything it was fine for a day or two, then this sync error and a memory status bar at the bottom that shows anywhere from 8 to 14 GB over storage limit...this is after being about 16 GB under the limit from the night before. I back up to my computer, not the cloud, and I have checked only the first 3 options (sync when connected, sync over wifi, and sync only checked items).
I'm tired of beta testing Apple's new releases--you're losing your edge and ticking off people. Protect the brand, man!
I jsut upgraded to the newest version of iTunes. But I'm pretty sure I was having the same problem before I upgraded.
I upgraded to iTunes 11 and I too have the same problem. I am not longer able to sync my IPhone because of this bug. Neither thru USB sync work nor wifi sync.
Haven't had this problem before upgrading to iTunes 11, but I am getting the 'Lost Connection' error on every sync attempt. Haven't been able to find any suggestions online. I am running 10.8.2 and trying to sync an iPad 3rd gen.
Yup, this has only happened since upgrading to iTunes 11. Can't believe such a major issue as not being able to sync your phone has gone unnoticed by Apple!
I too am having this issue with Win7 x64, iTunes 11.0, and iPhone 5 running iOS 6.0.1 thru USB.
My iPad 4 syncs fine with this PC though. Just my iPhone won't.

Same problem... lame...
My iPhone 5 64GB has been working well. Recently during sync with iTunes I noticed a huge "other" file in yellow at about 35gb. I got a message saying that the phone memory could not handle the sync. I tried restoring the phone from a backup which reduced this file back down to about 2gb. Each time I try to sync the phone to my MacBook pro with a cable attached, I get a message " this iPhone could not be synced because the connection to the iPhone was lost". I tried changing cables with no difference. The "other" file appears to be getting bigger and bigger. Both the MacBook pro and the iPhone have all of teh latest software. I tried turining wifi off with no change. An iPhone 4 synchs normally to the same MacBook Pro.
Another thread says delete the iPod photo cache. I tried that with no success.
I posted on this thread earlier, and have been receiving regular email alerts as other people update the thread.
I just retried to sync my photos (using an iPhone 4s) and iTunes 11 on a Mac running OS-X, and using my USB cable. This time it has worked.
All my previous attempts resulted in the error message "the connection to iphone was lost".
This time the photos synced although it was quite a slow process - although the file which I keep on my computer for photos to sync to the iPhone has 617 images (616 were already on my iPhone). Despite this the sync worked through each photo at the rate of about one photo per second. So, although it took a bit of time, and recopied all my photos, it does appear to have worked.
Like sunblock90 I now have an "other" file showing in yellow that is 876 MB and I have no idea what's in that.
I have found this article which is about the "other" file which looks helpful. If the file gets much bigger I'll try to use the guidance in the article - for now it's not a big issue for me, but others might find it useful.
I get this issue a lot too.
