itunes seems to be off

Hello! I am currently having problems trying to connect my iphone 7 (with ios 10.3.2) to my itunes on my pc. my itunes promptly tells me that i have to update my current version of it in order to connect my phone, yet i already have the latest version of it when i check for updates. What should i do to resolve the issue? iTunes seems to work on my ipod running the 10.1.1 ios. i also will try updateing my phone to see if it could resolve in the mean time.
