So, I create a Word document and store it on my desktop. Sierra creates a folder with the same name for a backup copy. How do I stop Sierra from creating these unnecessary folders on my desktop?
The OS (Sierra) does not automatically create a backup - folder or otherwise.
So, it must be a function of the app you are using and/or you've set up some other setting(s) - possibly iCloud?
