Why are songs missing from my iPhone playlist, ...

I recently figured out how to solve an old, ongoing issue about my music. It used to double songs, among other things, so I changed my sync settings to just sync all music. (months ago) Problem solved. But just now, I bought an album of eleven (11) songs, and moved them into my Favorites playlist (via iPhone) and put them in alphabetical order. Synced my phone to iTunes to save the playlist, and it removed all eleven songs from the playlist. I moved them into the playlist from iTunes (in order) and hit "sync," but only nine of the eleven are in the phone playlist, and all of them are showing in the iTunes playlist. What did I do wrong now...? I don't want to go back to my song doubling issue, so I don't want to pick "sync selected music, playlists, etc." Thank you for any help!
