Apple Watch S2

Hello,

 

Was not sure where to post this but wanted to know if what I just went through at the apple store is typical. I purchased a Series 2 42mm on 07/01/2017. Yesterday the AW would not power on despite being fully charged. I thought maybe I did not have it placed on the charger correctly so I placed back on the charger waited 15 minutes, nothing did not even power on just got hot so i disconnected it from charging. Tried a friends charger, holding down both buttons on and off  charger etc. Accepted it was dead.

 

I have a lot of apple products including the new iPad pro 10.5 and I am very happy with all of it. So I chalked it to bad luck and scheduled an appointment with the Genius Bar and was confident they would take good care of me, after all I am a very good customer!

 

That quickly changed. The very nice respectful genius informs me that my BRAND NEW watch has to be sent in to repair. Furthermore its subject to being replaced with a refurb and or refurb parts. WHAT?! I politely asked why cant you just swap it out its not even 75 days old? Cant do it he tells me, asked if anyone at the store had the authority to do that? Said no one has that authority at the store. My heart dropped not only may I get a refurb but i have to wait up to five days before getting it back.

 

Is it true that no one at the store has that authority? Why could I not get a swap?

 

Sincerely a shattered faith Apple customer.
