Apple Watch battery life terrible after 3.2.3 u...

My Apple Watch does not last a day after 3.2.3 OS upgrade. Am I the only one experiencing problems?

Does anyone know a fix, please?

Hi

Battery life varies depending on use and other factors. Examples are detailed here:

Apple's tips for maximising battery life on Apple Watch are detailed here:

If your Apple Watch is experiencing significantly shorter battery life than Apple's examples suggest that you should expect and/or than you were experiencing before, then your Apple Watch may require battery service.

Before contacting Apple, it may help to follow these steps, which have previously resolved battery life issues for other users, including those experienced after installing software updates, when their usage has not changed:

  • If you have ever (not necessarily recently) previously used the Workout app and/or any third-party fitness or sleep tracking apps to record workouts on your watch, check on your watch to see whether there is a paused activity within any of them. If there is, end that activity from within the app on your watch (not your iPhone).
    • If in doubt, remove any such third-party apps from your Apple Watch.

  • Unpair and re-pair your Apple Watch:

  • Some users have previously experienced battery life issues in connection with using corporate profiles and/or Exchange Calendars. If you are using an Exchange Calendar, one or more of these steps may help:
    • Archive your Exchange Calendar for all items before today.
    • Remove / delete all old inbox messages relating to calendar invites (accept and decline notifications).
    • Create a rule in your Outlook Mail account that moves all future accept and decline replies, immediately upon receipt, into a separate mail folder that does not sync with your iPhone and Apple Watch.
    • Check your Exchange Calendar for errors.

Having tried the previous steps, if the issue persists, I suggest contacting Apple Support (remote diagnostics and/or mail-in service may be available, if required), making a Genius Bar reservation or visiting an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance, including - if recommended - to have your watch inspected and serviced:

Apple support,

Please provide a response to the original posters' concern.  The battery life was fine before the latest OS release, and after, the battery doesn't last a day.  Nothing else has changed.  Please look into this and provide a fix.  Same problem here.

If you are experiencing the same issue, then I suggest that you follow the steps in my previous reply.

If you would like to discuss the issue with Apple, then you will need to contact Apple:

This is not Apple Support. You are not talking to Apple here - this is a user-based technical support community.

Previously mentioned steps do not help.  This is a behavior change linked to the latest OS release.  I will contact customer support

Apple support does not acknowledge the battery problem and offered no solution. Their only suggestion was to use the feedback tool to provide details, which I have done.  Surely I'm not the only one experiencing this problem?

No you are not. I was dealing with a Senior Tech - mainly because I was having issues syncing music and my Apple Pay credit card after the recent update to my first generation Apple Watch. Said he filed a "bug report" and that eventually a solution will be found. But I was also having battery issues (going maybe 5-6 hours) and we could not figure out if the watch was draining due to the syncing issues with my iPhone 7.

Eventually I got to a "customer care" person, who had me return the watch to run diagnostics on the battery. Gave it to FEDEX today. We shall see if they can fix the issue or issue some sort of replacement. Have no clue at this point.

BTW - I realize that Jonathan is trying to be helpful - constantly cutting and pasting the "solutions" he has above - and he has helped a lot of people from what I have read in this forum BUT, his "solutions" don't solve this issue - at least in my case.

The suggested steps (not "solutions") certainly may not resolve battery life issues for all users.

That is why they include - if the issue persists - making a Genius Bar reservation, visiting an Apple Authorised Service Provider or contacting Apple Support for further assistance, as you have evidently done.

Mine is exactly the same.  I used to get to midnight with between 40-60% battery remaining.  Now the watch dies before midnight every day without fail.  Just makes it worse when Apple refuses to acknowledge such issues and just spout the same crap about how to maximise battery life etc.
