Reinstall Yosemite/ This Item is Temporarily Un...

I got a used plastic MacBook from a buddy and attempting to do a factory reset. Not sure how old it is, but I've been told its probably around 2012. I erased the HD drive, however I'm unable to reinstall OSX 10.1 due to the error "This Item is Temporarily Unavailable". Instructions online say to boot from internet recovery using command+option+R, which should show the globe symbol but only takes me to recovery. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Shaun

If it's a white plastic body then it isn't from 2012. Apple did not make MacBooks in 2012. They stopped in 2010. Those machines came with software restore DVDs. If you don't have the DVDs, then you cannot reinstall OS X. And, the OS X you would need would be Snow Leopard.
