Mac lock password not working

Good morning!

System: MacBook Air, 13-inch, Early 2015

OS: Sierra 10.12.6

When my system goes to the lock screen, my password does not unlock the system.  When I input my correct password, the password field shakes - indicating an incorrect password.  If I click 'switch user' and input my password, it works fine.

How do I fix this so that my password unlocks the computer without having to click 'switch user'?
