iPod touch 6g with iOS 11.0.1: zero battery ico...

I didn't notice this on iOS 10, but now that I've upgraded to iOS 11.0.1, when turning on the iPod touch 6g, the battery icon initially shows zero (red), and then less than a minute later, eventually shows correct value.   Is this happening to anybody else?
