i cant download purchases from my iphone on to ...

i have updated to the latest software for itunes and now i cant transfer 50 items purchased on my phone onto itunes, all the products are there but have not downloaded etc and im getting pretty annoyed!!!

yes tried that, just seems to try and then give up?!?

Did you have "Automatic Downloads" enabled in Preferences (Edit > Preferences - Store Tab) on the computer in iTUNES BEFORE you downloaded the songs on the iPod?

Either way, if you haven't already done so, go thru these steps:

In iTunes

1. Select "Purchased" under STORE on the left hand sidebar

2. Click "Download Previous Purchases"

3. Select All Songs (Or Most recent, or whatever) on left hand side

4. Click "View..." in main pane. The new stuff should have a clickable Cloud icon with down Arrow**

5. Select each song, the click download, or,, using the Most Recent list - click button lower right hand side that says "Download All"

If the clicking the Cloud Icon of one of the undownloaded songs doesn't work (or if the icon is really greyed out - hard to tell since Apple went all Grey), there is a problem with your account or something, you should definitely contact Apple.

If you really want auto sync to work I've discovered that it needs to be enabled before a purchase..  Odd but true.

The problem is I downloaded today, the new software for iTunes, so when I sync the phone it transferred all purchases over but when I went play the music, ie foster the people album it was greyed out and had the sync circle between number and name of song, so I went to store preferences and where it says automatic downloads, the music, apps and books boxes were unticked which I've now ticked (I'm sure before updated itunes them boxes were ticked) and went to download previous purchases and I all items were greyed out there and downloaded so I deleted on my iTunes via music and redownloaded via iTunes in Pc, I've never had this problem before so I'm concerned for the future?!?! Jus wasted four hours when it should of transferred automatically!

Yes hopefully that won't happen again. Seems likely the iTunes upgrade had "unchecked" relevant items. (something to remember on future updates both iTs and iOS)

Maybe? this is intentional in case either some functioning or liscense agreement has change...  Perhaps a note to apple feedback is in order so that they can fix: https://www.apple.com/feedback/

I've had some flukiness re autodownloading since iOS 5 / iTunes 10.5 came out  (even tho I didn't upgrade to iOS5. And, although it might not be related to your problem, I have a sense there are some kinks are still being worked out at Apples' end - only odd because it was all working SO WELL before iTunes 10.5 / iOS5.

But A REMINDER: be aware that auto-downloading DOES need to be checked BEFORE purchases made on other device. (I guess this is to avoid downloading 5 year old items, you already decided not to include) Tho not a big deal if you've only added a song or 2, but you may want to double check before massive downloads.
