Macbook Pro Can’t Update to OS High Sierra

To start, I apologize if this is posted in the wrong location.

Hello,

I recently attempted to upgraded my 2013 Macbook Pro to OS High Sierra and was not successful. I keep getting the same message:

“macOS could not be installed on your computer the path /system/installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg appears to be missing or damaged. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.”

After clicking restart, it tries to power up and takes me back to the same screen. I’ve tried booting in recovery mode, entering disk utility and repairing. everything comes back fine with the repair.

When I attempt to reinstall OS, I get to the screen where it asks me to select the disk where I want to install OS X and none are listed. It is worth noting I have no time machine backups saved unfortunately.

One thing I’ve noticed is that it says I have 0MB remaining on my hard drive. (I have a 1TB hard drive and did not think I was anywhere remotely near using all of it.)

I try to enter safe mode and I’m not able to. it just takes me to the login screen. once I enter my login my computer restarts itself (and goes to a grey screen with the message) “Your computer restarted because of a problem. Press a key or wait” from here it goes back into the original screen saying OS could not be installed.

Have had no issues with my macbook in the past before, and now this issue is not covered under Apple Support.

Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. thanks
