My Apple CD/DVD player no longer works.

Until today, I only had to push the CD part way in, and it would be pulled in the rest of the way. Now, I can't push it all the way in. Oh, maybe I could, but it would probably result in breakage. Is there some First Aid I can aply to get it working properly sgain

Is there a disk in there already?

Otherwise, depending on the age of the Mac, try a Genius Bar or iFixit: The Free Repair Manual

Get help with the slot-loading SuperDrive on your Mac computer - Apple Support

No, there is no disc in the player, but i will try the link you supplied. Thanks.  I don't know what the Genius Bar is.

Genius Bar is at the Apple Store. They can test the Mac and send it off for Repair, but Apple repairs Macs at pricing levels, not by the part. I don't know what pricing level a Superdrive falls into. If the Mac is old, it might be better to replace it yourself if you think you're capable. A local computer repair may also be able to replace just the drive fairly cheaply (compared to the Apple service cost). If your Mac is too old, Apple won't even touch it.

The way the repair levels work is a number of components are covered under each level. No matter what the primary problem, everything within that repair level is fixed if broken.
