Setting up calendar sync with exchange

My goal using the iPhone calendar app is to be able to see my work meetings (MS Exchange via Outlook client on Win7), plus add/edit personal appointments while I'm away from the office.  Once I'm back on my work PC, I need changes sync'ed between Exchange/Outlook calendar and iPhone calendar.

My workaround for many years has been hacking iTunes configuration to allow me to sync on two PC's.  On my home PC, iTunes is setup to sync everything except the iPhone calendar.  On my work PC, iTunes syncs only the Calendar with Outlook/Exchange.

The headache is, I'm not able to enable iTunes sync over WiFi, as my office wifi firewalls personal devices from connecting work PC's.  So I'm stuck using USB cable to connect the phone to the PC every time I want to sync calendars.

Is there a way improve this setup to get the calendars to sync via iCloud?

My wish is for my default Outlook calendar on the work PC to periodically sync to iCloud...and the iPhone primary calendar also sync to same calendar in iCloud periodically.

Yes. It's simple. Just add the Exchange account to your phone. Settings>Mail>Accounts>Add Account. Contact your IT department for the required settings. That will sync directly with the Exchange server, which also synchs with Outlook on your work PC.

To add the Exchange account to the phone as you describe, IT requires purchasing Enterprise-level cell plan to enable required security features. This would be worth it if I needed to have access to work email on the phone, but very expensive when I just want calendar view. This is why I'm looking for a cloud-based alternative.
