Iclod and sharing document between Imac

Hello,
I was wondering if there is any chance, that I can share my word documents between my Imac and Macbook pro? I will be needing to edit them and have the updated version on both computers. I have all my files saved on my dashboard right now.

I would guess that your iMac is running Sierra and your MBP is not, it is a feature that first appeared in Sierra, iCloud Drive is available in most versions, that is why I suggest using it.

Yes, just save the file in iCloud Drive, either Mac will be able to open it.

Thank you so much! I have also read that under settings in iCloud Drive I should be able to pick an option called "Desktop & Documents". I can find this option on my Imac but not on my Macbook, do you know why?

Now for the last question, where do i find the iCloud drive and can i drag it to the desktop?

It can be placed in Finders sidebar by selecting it in Finders preferences, a shortcut can be made of it and placed just about anywhere shortcuts can be placed.
