unable to update apple watch to watch os 4

Hi

First update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS (start by making a backup) - the latest version is currently iOS 11.0.1:

• Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then pair your Apple Watch by following the remaining steps here:    

• Set up your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Sorry my bad I already have that update and my watch is already synced from way before the new I OS.  I also already restarted both my phone and watch.

I recently tried updating my first generation Apple watch last week and had the same issue. (I have an iPhone 6). I restarted my phone and was able to start updating my watch. I thought my install was frozen so I attempted to restart it... my watch froze, flashed the Apple logo and gave me the red exclamation point. Sent the watch in for a trouble shoot and Apple is now telling me it's a hardware issue and I pretty much have to buy a new one. My advice... don't update your watch. It's not worth the $250-$350 to either replace or buy a new one. It looks like others are having issues.
