Unable to add WAV files to iTunes

I am completely unable to add WAV files to iTunes. I've done it before, because I have WAVs in my library. When I use File > Add to Library..., I can select the file and click Open, but then nothing happens.

I'm using iTunes 12.7.0.166 on macOS 10.12.6 (16G29), on a MacBook (13-inch, Late 2009).
