What happens when you synch a phone and then a ...

I am about to start using iCloud photo library on my iPhone and my iMac. I am synching my phone first, what happens when I then synch my Mac? Will it merge the two libraries for me? Will one replace the other?

Hopefully I can manage to merge my photo libraries and keep all my albums and not lose anything or have duplicates. My photos have already all be imported to my mac.

it will merge them  --  and do the IOS device(s) first  as you plan - sometimes doing the IOS device last causes some problems with albums - ICPL will do a good job of not loading dulicates
