Universal Clipboard Not Working

Hi,

Problem:

"I cannot get the Universal Clipboard to work, even though I met all the prerequisites and followed all guides currently available."

I own the following devices:

  • MacBook 12" Retina (Early 2015) with macOS Sierra, Official Release;
  • iPhone 6 Plus with iOS 10, Official Release.

The following is activated/enabled:

  • Bluetooth on both devices;
  • Wi-Fi on both devices;
  • Handoff on both devices;
  • Same iCloud account on both devices.

Things that I've attempted, with absolutely no results:

  • Copy and pasting between devices, both ways, but it does not work (even after waiting a short while);
  • Disabling Bluetooth on both devices, and re-enabling;
  • Disabling Wi-Fi on both devices, and re-enabling;
  • Disabling Handoff on both devices, and re-enabling;
  • Logging off iCloud on both devices, and logging back in;
  • Rebooting both devices;
  • NVRAM/SMC reset on the Macbook;
  • Looking for updates (both are up-to-date).

Precisions:

"All other macOS Sierra / iOS 10 features work as intended. Handoff (and other Continuity features -- including cellular data sharing) works with no problem at all. It's only the Universal Clipboard feature who does not work. I've also ran a system check, neither the Bluetooth nor Wi-Fi chips are faulty on those 2 devices."

There is no reason why the Universal Clipboard feature is not working for me, as I met all the prerequisites and effected all the recommended troubleshooting steps.

Can someone help me out with a working solution?

P.S.: going to the Apple Store or reinstalling the OS's is not what I call a working solution. It's only time consuming and doesn't solve anything. The solution has to be more practical, i.e. a damaged preference file or something like that).

Problem solved.

I reinstalled macOS Sierra and apparently it resolved the issue.

I'm sure there was some preference and/or file that got altered somewhere. It's a bit of an extreme solution, but again it's the only one that showed probant results.

Hi.

I have the same problem. But I have a question before I eventually do the same. When you reinstalled macOS Sierra via the App Store, did you lose any of your data from your mac?

Hi AlexHolgersen,

I didn't lose any data, but I had a backup at hand just in case. It's considered good practice to backup your computer just before updating in case something goes wrong.

Do not forget to log off and log back in iCloud on your iOS device as well, as this is key for the whole thing to work.

Alright, thank you very much.

I have this problem, too — or half of it: Universal Clipboard works for me from my iphone to my Mac, but not from my Mac to my iphone. I, too, have checked that Bluetooth is enabled on both devices, that both are using the same wi-fi (emanating from the BT hub to which my Mac is connected), that my Mac is a late 2012 one that therefore falls into the requisite period, that I am running the currently-latest operating systems on both devices, that  my phone is close enough to my Mac when I try this to be within Bluetooth range, etc. Any help would be gratefully received.
