MBP 2017 87watt Power Supply / USB C Cable

I'm not sure what is going on with powering / charging my new MBP 15 2017.  I bought an extra 87 watt power supply . . . I have one at home and one at the office.  The power supply and connected USB C cables are not moved around at all.  Recently, I returned home and plugged in the USB C power cable and the MBP didn't respond.  I tried plugging in to the other USB C ports . . . nothing.  I swapped out the USB C cable and got power to my MBP, so I assumed it was a cable gone bad.  Today, the very same scenario played out at my office (different power supply, different cables).  Just out of curiosity, I swapped out the office USB C cable with the one from home that I thought was faulty and it showed power to my MBP.

Is there something weird going on inside my MBP which at times is not recognizing external power?

Hey Steve!

I hear you're having some problems with the USB-C charger for your MacBook. I'd be happy to see what we can do.

It sounds like you've already done some extensive troubleshooting and isolating on your own, so that's great. There's an article that offers some other steps you can check, just to further confirm that we're looking at an issue with the Mac or the charging port: If your USB-C power adapter isn't charging your Mac notebook - Apple Support

If nothing in that article helps, you might want to look into contacting Apple Support so a formal inspection can be done: Contact - How to Contact Us - Apple
