Disk password and recovery help.

I downloaded the new high sierra, and when I restarted my computer the file with the question mark appeared. I went to recovery mode and re downloaded macOS and high Sierra. Now all it’s giving me is a a disk password screen and any password I enter in is wrong and I can’t change the password from the change password in terminal. I care if the information is lost cause I’ve been writing books but it doesn’t even let me recover from time machine so I’m stuck. Thank you so much anyone who can help.
