Add Storage to iMac that already has SSD

I have a late 2015 iMac 27" 5K (iMac 17,1), 4 GHz and 32 GB RAM.  I ordered it with a 500 GB SSD (not a fusion drive, not an HDD).  I would like to increase the storage capacity of my iMac so I can migrate my 350 GB worth of photos from my NAS onto the hard drive (and get away from having a referenced library).   Physical volume specs are below.

Here's my question:  I thought that upgrading my storage was fairly straightforward, in that I could swap out a 500 GB SATA SSD for a 1 TB SATA SSD.   Then I learned that the factory installed SSD was connected via PCI interface --- which added about 20 steps to the fix and upped the level of complexity dramatically.

So --- are there any options for adding SSD storage to my iMac?
Thanks!
