iMac Message not showing new contact info

Just changed from Sprint to Verizon.

Same phone.  Same setup.

With old Sprint setup, NEW contact via my Gmail shows up on my iMac Messages with name.  For example - John Smith. (THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY)

With new Verizon setup, NEW contact via my Gmail shows up on my iMac Messages with phone number instead of name.  For example - 713-999-9999 instead of John Smith.

HOWEVER, with new Verizon set up, my iPhone Messages shows name

May I ask what am I doing wrong?
